Professor Jan Bebbington is the Director of the Pentland Centre for Sustainability in Business at Lancaster University.
The Centre has the mission of working with business to mainstream social and environmental sustainability into purposeful business strategy and performance.
Jan draws from over 30 years of working in academia where she has championed the role of accountants and accounting techniques in supporting organisations to recognize and respond to environmental issues in a way that is fair and just (the social part of sustainability).
She has worked alongside many businesses to help guide their activities as well as professional accounting bodies to support the development of social-ecological literate members.
Before coming to the UK, Jan worked at KPMG in New Zealand. She has also held policy advisory roles, most notably as part of the UK’s Sustainable Development Commission.
