  • Karen Miessner, CPA, SingerLewak LLP, Lead Partner Not-for-Profit Assurance and Advisory, Los Angeles, CA

    Karen Miessner is the Lead Audit Partner in SingerLewak LLP's Not-for-Profit Assurance and Advisory practice and is located in the Los Angeles office. Karen is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Fraud Examiner with over 21 years of experience serving nonprofit organizations in many capacities, including independent auditor, consultant, CFO, board member, and volunteer. Karen's experiences in these various functions as well as in a wide variety of nonprofit organizations have given her a practical and informed approach to serving her clients. Karen is a member of the AICPA Not-for-Profit Expert Panel. Karen is on the board of directors of YWCA of Greater Los Angeles and C5 Youth Foundation of Southern California.

  • Ashley Whitaker, CPA,

    Ashley Whitaker joined the AICPA team in January 2015. She assists with content development for various not-for-profit continuing education programs, including the Not-for-Profit Certificate Program and monthly webcasts hosted by the AICPA Not-for-Profit Section. Prior to joining the AICPA, Ashley managed the not-for-profit audit practice in the North Carolina office for a national accounting firm. She has presented on many topics geared towards the not-for-profit sector relating to accounting, financial reporting, internal controls and auditing. Whitaker is a licensed CPA in North Carolina and is a member of the AICPA and the North Carolina Association of CPAs. She received her bachelors degree in accounting from Meredith College and has devoted her career to serving and educating not-for-profits. She is a graduate of Leadership Raleigh 25 and Leadership Triangle. In 2012, she was recognized in the Triangle Business Journal's "under 40" list.
