Programme outline

Professor Christopher Pietroni, Director of the Birmingham Leadership Institute (BLI) and expert in adaptive leadership will share his insights from theory and practice to help you navigate complexity in your organisations.

“The most common leadership failure stems from attempting to apply technical solutions to adaptive challenges.” Ron Heifetz.

To lead is to live with danger. Although it may be exciting to think of leadership as inspiration, decisive action, and powerful rewards it often requires putting yourself on the line, disturbing the status quo, and working with organisational and political conflicts. Those who choose to lead take the risks and sometimes are neutralised for doing so.

This webinar in adaptive leadership draws on the work of Prof. Ron Heifetz of Harvard University.

Christopher will provide opportunities for learning about the challenges and opportunities of leadership in complex systems:

  1. Explore the difference between leadership and authority and the implications for your work and your organisation.

  2. Develop your capacity for distinguishing between “technical” and “adaptive” work.

  3. Explore and apply a variety of tools, techniques and approaches to enable you to make progress of adaptive challenges more effectively and thrive.

We hope you can join us for this special session hosted by CIMA fellow Nick Jessett.
