The recent Cop26 conference has brought environmental responsibility into the media headlines. However it is a topic that has been on the EU agenda for pension funds for some time, but from April 2021, it is no longer area Irish pension scheme trustees and employers can ignore.
The EU Institutions for Occupational Retirement Provision (IORPS II) was transposed into Irish law in April 2021. It requires pension schemes to give consideration to Environmental, Social and Governance factors, when considering an investment approach for their scheme members. But how do trustees and employers do this when selecting an investment manager or reviewing an existing manager, especially if their existing fund manager takes a passive investment approach. How can trustee and employers ensure they are giving ESG factors due consideration, while still getting good investment returns for members.
Join the Zurich team, for their insights on the new IORPS legislation, details on how Zurich apply ESG to their investment approach and what Zurich as company are doing towards sustainability.
Panellists: Mark Bowers | Senior Manager | Zurich Life Richard Temperley | Head of Investment Development | Zurich Life Laura Kerr | Customer Relationship Manager | Zurich Life
