Kate will introduce the concepts of blockchain, distributed ledgers and crypto assets in a straightforward way. She will illustrate the use of blockchain and crypto assets in enterprise and look at considerations for accounting, audit and taxation, and the wider implications for the future of money and the future of work.

As members will undoubtedly have questions about different aspects of this emerging and disruptive technology, Kate will answer anything you want to know about bitcoin, cyrptocurrencies, distributed ledgers, their applications, and opportunities and threats.

Speaker details:

Kate Baucherel BA(Hons) FCMA CGMA is a business development and strategy consultant specialising in the application of emerging tech in business, particularly blockchain and distributed ledger technology. She has held senior technical and financial roles in businesses across multiple sectors over a thirty-year career, including utilities, manufacturing, leisure and software, leading several enterprises through their start-up and growth phases. Kate’s first job was with an IBM business partner in Denver, back when the AS/400 was a really cool piece of hardware and the World Wide Web didn’t exist. She now works with clients from start-up to blue chip multinationals in the UK, Europe and further afield. She speaks at local, national and international events on the effective use of blockchain and other emerging technologies in business and is the author of several books including Blockchain Hurricane: Origins, Applications and Future of Blockchain and Cryptocurrency (BEP 2020) and the What’s Hot in Blockchain and Crypto series.
